The device is designed to amplify and filter weak bioelectric signals in the presence of noise generated by motion or remote electrode placement. The design allows the output signal to be easily captured by an ultra-low power analog digital (ADC) or embedded microcontroller.
The AD8232 uses a bipolar high-pass filter to eliminate motion artifacts and electrode half-cell potential. The filter is tightly coupled to the instrumentation amplifier structure, enabling single-stage high gain and high pass filtering, resulting in space and cost savings.
The AD8232 uses an unused limit amplifier to create a three-pole low-pass filter, eliminating additional noise. Users can select all filters cut off frequencies to meet the needs of different applications.
To improve the mode rejection performance of line-frequency systems and other unwanted interference, the AD8232 has a built-in amplifier for driven lead such as right-hand drive (RLD).
The AD8232 includes a fast recovery feature that reduces the otherwise long build-up of the long tail high-pass filter. If there is a sudden signal change in the amplifier rail voltage (eg lead disconnection situation), the AD8232 automatically tunes up the filter cut-off state. This function allows AD8232 to achieve fast recovery and therefore accurate measurement value as soon as possible after the lead is connected to the electrode of the measured object.
Guaranteed performance over the rated temperature of 0 °C to 70 °C and the operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C.
